Solskjaer: More difficult now for Man Utd to win titles

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted it is more difficult for Manchester United to win titles now than it was under legendary manager Alex Ferguson.

Solskjaer and United – fifth in the standings this season – watched bitter rivals Liverpool end their 30-year wait for an English league crown on Thursday.

United enjoyed dominance during Ferguson s 26-year tenure, winning 13 Premier League titles and 38 trophies in total at Old Trafford.

However, United have not won the Premier League since Ferguson s final season in 2013, though the Red Devils have had Europa League (2017), FA Cup (2016) and EFL Cup (2017) success.

Speaking ahead of Saturday s FA Cup quarter-final against Norwich City, United manager Solskjaer said: We ve got to be honest enough to say it is m…

Klopp understands Solskjaer´s wholesale changes after Man Utd defeat damages Liverpool´s top-four ho

Jurgen Klopp fully understands Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s reasons for fielding a much-changed team in Manchester United s defeat to Leicester City.

Liverpool s Champions League hopes were dealt a blow on Tuesday, with the Foxes running out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer made 10 changes in total from the team he started in Sunday s comeback win over Aston Villa, with only Mason Greenwood – who continued his fine goalscoring form with an eighth in all competitions since March 21 – retaining his place.

The victory moved Leicester onto 66 points, two clear of fourth-placed Chelsea and nine clear of Liverpool, who sit sixth though do have Thursday s Premier League match with United in hand.

Some sections of Liverpool s support were infuriated by Solskj…

Prediction: FC Barcelona vs Getafe

Barcelona enter this game in a thrilling run of form, as they have lost just once in their last 12 Liga matches (W8, D3, L1) and while that might not be enough to put them at the top standings, it’s certainly an encouraging sign moving forward. Quique Setien’s men are coming off a tougher-than-expected 3-2 win at Real Betis last week, and that pushed their winning run in LaLiga to two games following their slip at Valencia on January. As if that wasn’t enough, Barcelona have also won each of their last three league matches at Camp Nou while going undefeated all season long thus far (W10, D1) and sitting comfortable at the top of the home standings. All signs point towards a comfortable Barca win, although depth might be an issue for them considering their recent rash of injuries.<…

Tagliafico accepts Argentina don´t know how to take advantage of Messi

Argentina left-back Nicolas Tagliafico accepts the national team simply do not know how to make the most of Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

At club level, Messi has been arguably the most consistently brilliant player in the world for more than a decade, while many regard him as the greatest of all time having scored at least 25 goals in every LaLiga season since the 2009-10 campaign and won every competition possible with Barcelona.

Although Messi is Argentina s record goalscorer with 65 and just 20 appearances shy of being their most-capped player, many feel his international career has been underwhelming, particularly after the disappointment of the 2018 World Cup when Argentina exited to France in the last 16.

Messi has not played for his country since the to…

Low will take time to process heavy heart but successor Flick must quickly establish Germany identit

Joachim Low will now have the opportunity to process a heavy heart following Germany s Euro 2020 exit but his successor Hansi Flick does not have the luxury of time.

Germany were knocked out of the European Championship with a 2-0 defeat to England at Wembley in the last 16 on Tuesday.

It was a result that brought Low s reign, which saw him guide Die Mannschaft to World Cup glory in 2014, to an unceremonious end.

Flick will now take over after winning seven trophies in an 18-month spell at Bayern Munich, which included a Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League treble in 2019-20.

And Low is happy to hand over responsibility to the national team to his former assistant, having led Germany at seven major tournaments in his 15 years in charge.

Angelino set to seal permanent Leipzig transfer

Manchester City s Angelino, currently on loan at RB Leipzig, is set to join the Bundesliga side on a permanent deal when the temporary one expires next summer, according to The Times. The transfer is expected to be agreed in the coming months and to cost Leipzig £16.2 million.

The 23-year-old left-back took his first football steps at Deportivo La Coruna and joined City in 2013, at the age of 16. After that he went through loan spells with New York City FC, Girona, Mallorca and NAC Breda, before joining PSV Eindhoven permanently 2018. City brought him back to the Etihad only a year later, but he hasn t been able to force his way into the starting XI under Pep Guardiola and has been sent to Leipzig.

His performances for the German club have been excellent, and coach Jul…

Germany boss Low not ruling out recalls for Muller, Boateng and Hummels

Joachim Low will do what he feels is best for Germany s hopes of Euro 2020 success when it comes to making a decision on the futures of Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels.

All three players were banished into the international wilderness by Low in March 2019 as he looked to build towards the future after Germany flopped at the 2018 World Cup, exiting in the group stage for the first time since 1938.

Attacking midfielder Muller (100 caps), plus defenders Boateng (76 caps) and Hummels (70 caps), boast 246 international caps between them and were all in the team that won the World Cup in 2014, but are now each 30 years of age.

Low reiterated last month that he would stand by his choice not to recall any of the trio, saying nothing has changed his opini…

Liverpool linked with Manchester City star Raheem Sterling

Liverpool are interested in signing Raheem Sterling from Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to . As relayed by , it has been reported by the German publication that Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona all are keen on the 26-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.

Sterling recently said that he is open to leaving defending Premier League champions City fo regular playing time. The former Liverpool player has fallen down the pecking order in manager Pep Guardiola’s side.

The England international actually left Liverpool for City back in 2015. Sterling has improved and progressed a lot as a player, and he would certainly make manager Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team better and more potent.

Fati ´equal to or better than´ Mbappe, claims LaLiga president Tebas

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is at least on a par with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, according to LaLiga president Javier Tebas.

Fati has enjoyed an impressive rise from Barca academy product to first-team star over the past two years, despite having to contend with a number of injury setbacks.

Among a host of other records set since his debut in August 2019, Fati can lay claim to being Barca s youngest goalscorer and the youngest scorer in Champions League history.

Mbappe is also no stranger to breaking records, not least becoming the youngest player in history to reach the 100-goal mark in Ligue 1 at 22 years and 91 days old in March.

The World Cup winner is further along in his development than Fati, having made his senior …
