West Ham reject Spurs bid for Parker

West Ham revealed Wednesday they have rejected an offer from Premier League rivals Tottenham for England international midfielder Scott Parker.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a summer move away from Upton Park, with White Hart Lane a possible destination to link up with former Hammers boss Harry Redknapp.

But West Ham chairman David Sullivan told www.whufc.com: I made a promise that I would not sell Scott and I will not, for any amount of money, break that promise to the West Ham supporters.

Scott is not for sale at any price, to anyone. West Ham supporters, for far too long, have had owners that sell their best players and promise one thing and do another.

This is a new era. We are building a bigger, better West Ham and when we make a promise, w…

Inter eyeing Torres move

that Inter Milan are preparing a bid for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.

The Spain international has struggled to find consistency since moving to Stamford Bridge for £50m in January 2011, scoring just nineteen goals in one hundred and nine Premier League appearances.

Reports in Italy are suggesting that Inter will initially attempt to take the 30 year old on loan before completing a £10m bid next summer.

The former Liverpool striker has also been linked with a return to his first club Atletico Madrid, who is faced is the semi-finals of the Champions League last month.

During his time with the Blues, he has won the FA Cup, Europa League and the Champions League, and was also victorious in the 2012 European Championships with Spain, where he fini…

Swansea line up McCarthy bid

Swansea City are readying a move for Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy as they prepare for the exit of Netherlands international Michel Vorm.

Vorm, who moved to the South Wales club in the summer of 2011, has been linked with a move to Liverpool as their manager Brendan Rodgers looks to give competition to current first choice shot-stopper Simon Mignolet.

The Royals are set to sell McCarthy to the highest bidder, after the failed to secure promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

The 24 year old, who played in all but two of Reading’s league games during the 2013/14 campaign, would welcome a move to a higher level as he looks to boost his international chances.

He has three caps for the England U21’s, but despite selected by…

Rashford loving life under Mourinho

Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford is loving life under Jose Mourinho and is grateful to have been given the chance to shine this campaign.

Rashford impressed after breaking into the first team under Louis van Gaal last term, but initially struggled to build on his fine form from 2015-16 in the opening stages of this season.

Mourinho never stopped believing in the 19-year-old, though, and even referred to the attacker as one of his most trusted players in a recent interview.

It is a massive thing when a manager like Mourinho says that I am one of his most trusted players, Rashford told Premier League Productions.

The best thing about it is that you have earned it. He did not just come in and say there you go – play every game . He has made us…

Arsenal v Dinamo Zagreb: Doping scandal overshadows pivotal clash

Arsenal face a crucial Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday but much of the pre-match talk has centred on a doping controversy from the reverse fixture.

Midfielder Arijan Ademi failed a drugs test following Dinamo s surprise 2-1 victory over Arsene Wenger s side on matchday one and has been banned for four years by UEFA, though he has always protested his innocence.

Wenger has called for more stringent testing within football and claims there is a prevalent assumption within the sport that doping is not a major problem.

However, Dinamo coach Zoran Mamic branded the decision to ban Ademi as idiocy as he confirmed an appeal would be taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

We are all shocked, Mamic said. This is idiocy to punish a lad…

´It came off my lips!´ – Saka delighted after unconventional winner

Bukayo Saka was thrilled his fortuitous goal gave Arsenal a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League to continue their strong start to the season.

A lovely move in the 24th minute gave Saka the ball in the box and, though his initial shot was deflected, it came back off the 21-year-old and nestled into the back of the net to put the Gunners ahead.

Though they underwent spells of sustained pressure in the second period as the hosts pushed for an equaliser, Arsenal held on to make it 11 wins from 12 in all competitions to start the campaign and put them on nine points at the top of Group A.

Bodo had won 14 consecutive home games in European competition prior to the defeat and Saka knew it would be hard work putting an end to that run.

It…

PSG, Rennes thwarted in bid to reach summit

A last-minute goal from Nene earned Paris Saint-Germain a 1-1 draw at Lorient on Sunday, while Rennes squandered the chance to go top of the table in a 2-1 defeat at Auxerre.

Both PSG and Rennes were hoping to end the day at the head of the French first division, but Nene s goal meant only that the sides swapped places in the standings, with Paris climbing to fourth and Rennes dropping to fifth.

PSG are now two points behind leaders Brest, with Auxerre a further two points off the pace in eighth.

Kevin Gameiro had already hit the bar for Lorient with a delicate lob before the unmarked Lynel Kitambala pounced at a corner in the 32nd minute to put them ahead.

The visitors carried a consistent threat going forward though, and Lorient goalkeeper Fabien Audar…

Eddie Howe a shrewd appointment for Burnley

Last weekend Championship Burnley appointed rookie Eddie Howe as their new boss.

They have taken a slight gamble on appointing somebody so inexperienced in management but I’m sure the gamble will pay-off.

Criticised

I criticised the Burnley board and owners for their appointment of former-boss Brian Laws last season.

I saw it as a poor appointment. The cheap option if you like. However the appointment of Howe could be one of the shrewdest managerial appointments they will ever make.

Level-Headed

For a guy of 33 he shows a football brain beyond his years. He is a very level-headed guy and is very much a student of the game. As a player he was always seen as a leader in the team and in the dressing room. He has obviously taken those leade…

Bayern not planning title party yet, insists Guardiola

Pep Guardiola stressed that Bayern Munich have not planned any Bundesliga title celebrations yet as they prepare to take on Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

The Bavarians will be crowned champions for a fourth consecutive season if they secure victory in the capital and second-placed Borussia Dortmund lose to Stuttgart, but Guardiola does not expect BVB to slip up.

We want to fight for the title, but we are not getting carried away, the former Barcelona boss said at his pre-match media conference.

We have not planned any title celebrations yet we will return to Munich after the game. I expect Dortmund to beat Stuttgart, so we need two more wins.

We have a lot of quality, which is only normal at a big club. These players won the treble in 2013 and have since …
